A global music sensation for The SSE Hydro
5 August saw global music sensation Celine Dion take to the stage of a sold-out SSE Hydro, for the final date of her European tour - and her first time in Scotland in 21 years!
Accompanied by an orchestra, band and backing singers, she emerged on stage to the classic 80s power ballads, The Power of Love and I Drove All Night. Met with deafening screams of admiration, her unstoppable vocal range was insanely impressive from the word go.
She came at the audience with hit after hit including All By Myself, It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, Because You Loved Me followed by versions of Michael Jackson’s Black or White and Queen’s The Show Must Go On.
Admitting that she liked to talk just as much as she liked to sing, she stopped to chat on more than one occasion, at one point regaling the audience with a tale of her love for sticky toffee pudding.
The Hydro audience became glassy eyed during Recovering, written by Pink for Celine during the passing of her husband, a defining and emotional moment not just for the singer but for everyone there.
Finally, the song everyone had been waiting for, My Heart Will Go On, for which she donned an in.cre.dible dress. That night the arena witnessed an incredible evening with a note perfect, living legend - her emotion and quirky personality shone through like no other.
