Blue Planet II Live in Concert

BBC’s Blue Planet II Live in Concert created a splash when it arrived in Glasgow this March.  Bringing a massive HD screen and the sensational City of Prague Orchestra, crowds were transported deep into the world’s most enchanting waters and met some of the ocean ’s most beautiful underwater creatures.

The hit TV series was transformed for the arena and crowds watched as majestic dolphins took flight across the ocean, a fight between a shark and an octopus played out and as new, unique creatures were introduced.  The ‘dog eat dog’ scenes were made even more enthralling by the intense colours on the 200 square meter HD screen, and sound track scored by Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and David Fleming. The show ended with a closing message from Sir David Attenborough who delivered a poignant speech about climate change and the battle against plastic in our oceans.

Blue Planet II was attended by the winning VentureJam 2018 team. VentureJam 2018 inspired youngsters from all over Scotland to enter the challenge which ultimately saw teams of four or five working together to solve the issue of single use plastic in the events industry. The winning idea came from team Fan-plastic Five, who created the Recycling Jukebox. The concept takes the original reverse vending machine model and combines it with the incentive of choosing your favourite encore track for the gig in the Hydro if you use it.
