The SSE Hydro was bursting with people of all ages who came down on a wet and dull Friday night, to listen to Professor Brian Cox lecture on the basic principles of Cosmology.
Best known as the presenter of several science programs for the BBC, Cox has been boosting the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics, due to his natural ability to make complex ideas highly entertaining and easy to understand.
The show promised to take audiences on a dazzling journey through space and time – and it didn’t disappoint.
Comedian Robin Ince, who is also Cox's co-host on the Radio 4 discussion show The Infinite Monkey Cage, provided the comedy and a witty outlook on the wonders of science.
Brian Cox explained the creation of life from with unrivalled passion; we were shown the Big Bang and how the nature of the universe creates a unique setting for intelligent life to thrive on Earth. The audience were stunned by huge, beautiful images of planets, stars, galaxies and other natural wonders.
Cox proved that science is accessible to all, whether you’re an avid fan or a total novice. There is so much that we don’t know about the universe and the fact that we may never know, is the true beauty and wonder of science.
